Choosing what happens at the sides
A stretched print has four visible sides, and you decide what goes on them. When part of the picture matters right up to the border, choose the mirrored or plain finish so nothing is wrapped out of view.

- The picture continues onto the sides. A narrow band moves from the border onto the frame.
- Mirrored
- The border is flipped onto the sides, so nothing at the front is lost.
- Plain band
- The sides are a single colour and the picture stops at the front face.
Looking after it

- Keep out of direct sunlight and away from damp rooms.
- Hang with the hardware supplied rather than adhesive hooks.

About this painting
A slender bell tower anchors this crowded hilltown square, its stone catching the last warm light above tiers of ochre, gold and terracotta façades. Below, striped market awnings in red, teal and burnt orange crowd the narrow street, suggesting the bustle of a late-afternoon bazaar. The sky above burns amber and plum, its glow spilling down through the rooftops to meet the color below. Thick, worked-up ridges of color give the buildings and awnings a worked-up, layered depth, so the composition reads as thickly built paint even in the smallest details.
